Things to do in Germany
Germany is a big, practical country with a surprising talent for fairy-tale scenery, difficult history, design, beer, and forests.
Germany rewards travelers who resist reducing it to castles and cars. Its cities are culturally sharp and historically layered, while the countryside moves through river valleys, Baltic beaches, Black Forest trails, wine villages, and alpine edges.
The rail network makes multi-city trips natural, but Germany also suits slower regional travel, especially in Bavaria, the Rhine, Saxony, or the north. Summer is festival season, December is market season, and spring or early fall often gives the cleanest balance of weather and manageable crowds.
