The stops we'd build a London trip around

One honest pick per place, and why. Open any for the full verdict. The planner arranges these into your days for you.

  • Tower of London Worth it

A half day well spent if you let the Beefeater tour carry it; the stone keep itself is bare, and the stories are what…

  • Tower Bridge Worth it with caveats

Pay only if you want to go up; the glass floor and the old Victorian engine rooms make a solid hour.

  • Westminster Abbey Worth it

The density of history here is the draw: royal tombs, Poets' Corner, the coronation chair, all in one church.

  • London Eye Worth it with caveats

On a clear day the panorama over central London is the easy, low-effort version of a big view.

  • Churchill War Rooms Worth it

Churchill War Rooms justifies its place on a London itinerary because it is both a preserved historic site and a…

  • Greenwich Worth it

Greenwich is one of London's best value districts because free sights, paid icons, and open parkland sit close…

  • Buckingham Palace Worth it with caveats

See the outside for free, then pay for the State Rooms only if palace interiors really matter to you.

  • St Paul's Cathedral Worth it with caveats

Worth it if you want Wren's interior and the dome climb, not just a view.

Good to know before you plan

Where we would spend carefully, or not at all.

  • Tower Bridge Worth it with caveats Pay only if you want to go up; the glass floor and the old Victorian engine rooms make a solid hour. For a photo, the riverbank in front of the Tower of London is free and gives you the better angle anyway.
  • London Eye Worth it with caveats On a clear day the panorama over central London is the easy, low-effort version of a big view. Grey weather guts it, and a rooftop bar gets you something similar for the price of a drink.
  • Buckingham Palace Worth it with caveats See the outside for free, then pay for the State Rooms only if palace interiors really matter to you. Changing of the Guard is famous, but turn up too late and it's more crowd management than magic, with half a view at best.
  • St Paul's Cathedral Worth it with caveats Worth it if you want Wren's interior and the dome climb, not just a view. Skip the ticket if a skyline photo is really all you want, or if 528 steps already sounds like a no.
